Inquisitorial Razorbacks and Henchmen Part 2

So I feel like the allied or inquisitorial detachment of Coteaz and the 3 objective secured Psybacks, 3 psykers, and 6 acolytes, is still a huge bang for the buck. So I think I will be making use of this build in my 11th chapter army to replace the old draigowing component/termy build.... though the GK's are still doing good and could also make use of these allies.

I was looking for some cool models to use for Acolytes and Psykers and decided to use the new Scion models as my Acolytes.   They are just too cool not to use in any army (well maybe Nids).  And I found these really cool Slicks models from East Riding Miniatures.

Bases on all of my models are as always from Dameon at : Khepris Eternal Legion

Psyker and 2 Acolytes

A few Psykers showing the different poses.  I like the Charlies Angel's pose.

Inquisitorial Razorbacks and Henchmen Part 1

So a long time ago, maybe an addition, may two..... Coteaz and henchmen in psybacks were a thing.  And I guess they still are, and even more so if the tourney scene does not restrict you to using 2 books for sources. Anyway, quite some time ago, I commissioned my good friend Dameon from Khepri's Eternal Legion to assemble and base coat 6 psybacks since I could not prime in my home and I could not bring myself to assemble 6 more rhino chassis models.

Well, he delivered.  Here is how I received my 6 razorbacks:

You can see he did a great job and even converted the turret from a few other kits. the model is also magnetized.

I have brought one up to near completion and will just need to add some more weathering, highlights, and some inquisitorial emblems and purity seals in the near future.

Henchmen to follow....

finally back to blogging

So after the birth of another child, a crazy year of work, and a serious love of the game of thrones LCG, I have decided to start updating my hobby blog again (as able).

I have been slowly assembling the remaining pieces of both my gk and sm armies, though in between this post and the last, we have gotten a new addition of 40k and both gk and sm have received new codex's.

This has thrown some major wrenches in my plans and many models I have completed or have started may sadly be shelf bound (like those awesome venerable gk psyfleman dreads and my 11th chapter th/ss termies).

But, I guess that opens up new doors as well.

On the fantasy side, I have gotten my entire army based and such. And I have gotten some painted as well.  I will try to splash some of those updates (well catch ups) as well in the near future.

WFB Battle Report: 8th Ed. WOC vs VC - 1750 PTS

Had a chance to play another game, this time at 1750 (opponents request), this time against Vampire Counts.

He had:
Vamp - Red Fury, Ogre Blade
Necromancer
Tomb Banshee
2x min units of zombies
24 ghouls
30 skeletons
30 grave guard - Banner of Barrows
3 vargheists
Terrorgheist

I decided to just trim down my 2500 list by ditching the DP and the Hellcanon and say F-It to the magic and shooting phases, they just slow things down anyways.

Exhalted (not BSB ..sadface) General, Tzeentch, Barded Demonic Mount, Crappy Magic Sword, Third Eye, Tal of Prez., Shield
5x Chariots of Slaanesh
3x Warhounds
2x Gorbeast Chariots of Nurgle
2x Chimerea w/ Regen and Breath

We decided to just play a good old fashioned battle line scenario.

My biggest fear was the terrorgiest who was a major threat for my only hero character, luckily even if my general dies, WOC just dont give a shit (unless the scenario says we do)

Here you can see I set up the Chimerea on the left flank hoping to pull the terrorgiest away from my general and expose his flank and rear by a gorebeast.  I put the general on the other side with 2 chariots and hounds and then filled my center with my chariots.  He got first turn and shambled forward and didnt take the Chimerea bait.  Luckily what he did do was summon a squad of zombies or something right into the middle of the table.

My Turn 1 I moved the Chimerea extreme forward left flank, allowing for future  charges and breath.  I moved the left hounds up and screened the Chimerea, hoping the skellies might go for a charge and expose the flank.  The right side of the table moved up and the general marched to the center of the table.   The big deal was that I was able to charge my whole center  of 3 Chariots and 1 gorebeast into the newly summoned squad, of course destroying them, but allowing me to overrun into 2 of the 3 units in his center.

Here you can see the results of my overrun.

Here you can see on his turn the Terrorgeist marched to the rear of my general and his flying vargiests charged my general.  In retrospect, I should of reformed one of the chariots who won in the center so I could threaten the terrorgiest who was obviously going to go for the General.  The Geist screams and the gereral loses 2 wounds of course (despite having a 3++ with rerolls of a 1).  His Ghouls charge the flank of my left chariot, lots of undead die.   The vampire lord swings of the gorebeast and scores a wound.
My General kills a vargiest.

On my turn 2, I charge a unit of hounds, a chimera, and  a gorebeast into the big skellie bus, getting the flank with the chimera.  The right side chariot charges the vargiests, the other reforms and the hounds move up.  The open Chimera moves behind the rear skellies and breathes.

2 mistakes here were that I didnt realize the zombies were so nasty with poison and I should of moved my left gorebeast up the middle to charge their rear or flank next turn, instead of charging the skellies.  Also the dogs are now in the middle of the table and will be in the way if I break from the center combat....  which of course happens as my chariots dont have the impacts anymore.

Here the Chimera breathes on the rear skellie block.  You can see his zombies have gone into combat with the chariot that charged the vargeists.

His banshee screams on my rear chimera, bringing him down to 1 wound left. Grave Guard charge the hounds in the center on the flank.  Rear skellies move foward.  I continue to grind down what I can but dont accomplish much.

His terrorgeist flies behind my lord and finishes him with one last scream.  He regenerates more grave guard into the block with his vampire, they kill the hounds and reform.

Still on his turn I am able to kill the left skellie block setting myself up to rear and flank charge the terrorgiest.

This turn was major swing for me.  I get off the charges from my left chimera and gorebeast to the rear and flank of the terrorgeist, my rear chimera charges the rear skellies, my upper right chariots (left from the center combat earlier) charges the same skellies, and my lower right chariot goes for the flank of the zombies that are engaged with my lower center chariot.  The impact hits just push the combats over the top and I am able to overrun into the lower combat that hasnt occurred yet on my turn (Ghouls and chariots).  We asked about if the new additions to the combat get to participate at the store and the answer was yet, let me know if that is not the case.

You can see the guys who overran from their earlier combats this turn, now charged into the zombie combat.  This many impact hits and attacks pop the Ghouls.

My units reform to take the charge from his Grave Guard block with vampire, or possible charge the next turn.

He casts regen on the GG unit, but miss casts and of course rolls 4 on the chart, then a roll of 1 sucks him into the warp or whatever.  So that is beyond the point of return now.   What a silly way to end the game.

Was a ton of fun and my buddy Mark is a great person to play against.   I def learned more about the chariots and combat rez (especially against undead) and of course reaffirmed my theory that anything that screams is bad!!!

Battle Report: 8th Edition New WOC vs New Demons

Battle Report from 3/6/13
2500 Points of 8th Edition WOC vs 8th Edition Demons

I hosted my friend Dan at my place for a fantasy battle since the "snowquester" had closed the FLGS.  This was both our first games with the new books at a higher point level so we decided to just play a battle line scenario.  12" deployment zones and just kill each other.

Dan's Tzeentch demons from what I can remember

LVL 4 Lord of Change w/ big gift (+2 toughness), Lore of Metal
LVL 2 Herald of Tzeetch, BSB? with the super blow up gift
25 pink horrors
10 pink horrors
10 pink horrors
7 flamers (approx)
7 flamers (approx)
3 screamers
3 screamers
Super fire chariot cannon thing of tzeentch
Super fire chariot cannon thing of tzeentch

My WOC Chariot list:

LVL 4 Nurgle Prince w/ wings, armour, scales, sword of striking, dragonbane, charmed shield, sould eater, breath, casting nurgle
Exalted BSB of Tzeentch, Barded demonic mount, tal of pres, shield, crappy 5 point magic sword
5x chariots of slaanesh
2x 6 vanguarding hounds
2x gorebeast chariots of nurgle
2x chimerae w/ regen and breath
hellcannon

I was really concerned that my chimerea would get facerolled with all his fire (or warpfire) and that the metal was just gonna rape me so I took forever to set up.  In the end I put one Chimera on the extreme right flank to try to bypass the flamers and maybe get the charge on the screamers (though I had forgetten about their super chomp attack on monsters).  I kept my center full of chariots, the other chimera, DP, and BSB and the 2 vanguarding dogs and put the other gorebest on my left flank to try and handle the other screamers.

His blocks were in the middle with flamers and screamers on the flanks.  He kept the chariots in the middle... because why not... they are flying chariots that shoot flamer templates!!!  thank god I didnt have blocks of infantry.

Dan moves things to my left a bit and nothing really happen on that side except the flamers shoot at my gorebest chariot and do wound.  The screamers move forward to 20" of my Chimera asking for a bold charge. Magic him casting some horrible metal spell on the gorebeast, bringing him down to 1 wound left.  Hi s flamers on the right shoot the dogs down to 1 left but it passes its LD. His Chariot attempts to fire the flamer at my chariots but misses.
In response my gorebeast on left attempts the charge on the screamers (fails but at 6" move, it seemed that itwouldnt hurt much vs advancing)  the two chariots on the left attemp to charge his chariot and fail.  everything else advances up. The DP and Chimera jump in front of his chariot and flame breath causing a wound and killing 4 horrors in the big blog behind. The right chimera say F that to the charge and goes 20" and breaths the screamers but crappy results. Hellcannon shoots at this big block but its indirect because I am stupid and it scatters off the block into nothing.
Dan charges the two super flamer chariots into my chariots, for some reason I thought I could block them with my baddies and didnt realize that he was flying and could just charge as long as he could see.  Oh well, thats how you learn.   The screamers on the right charge the Chimera.  The flamers on the right shoot the dogs down to leadership and they fail, eventually running off the table.  The screamers on the left zoom over the gorebeast but fail to wound. His Lord moves out of LOS of my gorebeast and casts Final Transformation on the DP but luckily he didnt roll a 6!.... That would of SUCKED!!
I was surprised how many attacks the flamer chariots put out, I believe it was 9 a piece with the warpfire rule.   He killed one chariot and put the hurt on another.  .

On my turn My center Chimera charged his smaller middle block of horrors, my DP charged the big block, my middle chariots charged his right flamers, my BSB charged his left flamers, my left gorebeast moved foward (vs charging the flamers and losing my last wound to stand an shoot) and my right Chimera (not in pic) cleared out the screamers. The DP cast -3T on the big block (though it didnt matter, still wounds on 2's) and miscast, failing his charmed shield roll.  LOL, better that than a cannon ball.  Both  Chimerea had 9  -12 attacks counting the stomp and they both won combats.  The center flamers were destroyed horribly by the 3 chariots.  The Left flamers went down to 4 models after instability.  My left chariot died to his chariot (1 wound remaining) and he reformed to charge the rear of my BSB.  The center chariots and the center Chimera reformed to support the left side and kill more stuff.  The center gorebeast chariot kept crawling forward.

And of course the interwebz" told you so" moment of the game was my hellcannon getting a direct hit on his lord of change, him failing his 4++ and scoring 5 wounds... by by Lord of Change

His flaming chariot charged by BSB in the rear and died horribly since he only had one wound left.  The screamers charged by gorebeasts flank and scored no wounds and then died horribly between actual wounds and instability.  The combat wtih the DP continued with 5 guys dying. Missed with the hellcannon. Some crazy stuff happened where he was able to summon a squad of horrors but they didnt do anything because they failed to cast what they needed to.
My gorebeast chariot charged his remaining flamers who were tied up with the BSB on the flank and they died.  The Chimera and the chariots finally got into position for a final charge.
Here is a pick of the final charge.  Chimera and chariot into the small block, the DP, BSB, and gorebeast chariot went on the big squad, and my other gorebeast chariot (left) positioned himself for the charge on this new squad.  The results are pretty obvious as it was just too much for the remains of the squads to handle.

My thoughts:

The DP rushes to get into combat both to kill stuff and avoid Magic Missiles and Cannons, so I am unsure if making him Lvl 4 is really worth it. Especially since the really nasty stuff people want to get off on him or in general is being cast on 6 for IF anyways.  Thinking of going down to level 2 possibly.  My army set up doesnt allow me to take a 2nd lvl 2 for scroll or skull, since I would have to mount him anyways.

The gorebeast are slow, but amazing.  I think I focus on locking my targets up with a reg chariot and then support the flank with the gorebeasts.

The breath weapons all were kinda meh, but that was because I assumed I would lose both Chimerea turn 2 to flaming shooting attacks and lore of metal and change, so I popped them just to pop them.  With the DP, again, hes in CC so quick that I dont know how I feel about it, at least I could use that in CC but I feel I always roll bad for the number of hits.

Lore of metal going to be like kryptonite and my whole army is really going to have to watch out for it, but I guess thats no different then previous books.

Your Thoughts?  I would love to hear what you more experienced folks think.
